What is Contract Sewing?
Contract sewing is sewing work carried out by a specialist facility on behalf of a brand, retailer or manufacturer, rather than by their own staff. Garments arrive at our site in Wigan, the agreed work is completed by our machinists, and the finished stock is either returned to you or moved straight on to the next stage of processing.
Retailers come to us for contract sewing in three situations. The first is a seasonal peak that the in-house team cannot absorb. The second is a one-off project, such as sewing new labels into an entire range or shortening a full delivery of trousers. The third is steady batch work that is simply cheaper to outsource than to staff for. In each case we act as an extension of your production operation, working to your specification and your deadline.
Because our sewing section sits on the mezzanine of the same 70,000 sq ft building as our garment pressing, garment finishing, garment labelling and garment packing teams, the stock does not leave the site between stages. There is no second supplier to appoint and no extra journey to pay for.
Our Industrial Sewing Services
Our industrial sewing services cover the alterations, repairs and finishing tasks that retailers most often need completed at volume. Every job is agreed against a sample or written specification before the run starts, so the hundredth garment matches the first.
Label Sewing
Brand, care, size and country of origin labels, sewn in at the position your specification requires. This is the service behind our relabelling and rebranding work.
Re-hemming
Single needle, blind hem and chainstitched finishes on trouser legs, skirts, sleeves and garment bodies.
Zip Replacement
All zip types, including concealed zips and open-end jacket zips.
Bartacking
Reinforcement stitching at stress points on jeans, bags and workwear, including pocket corners and belt loops.
Button Sewing
Flat buttons and shank buttons, with buttonholes cut and finished where a garment needs them.
Overlock & Seam Cover
Three-thread and four-thread overlocking for clean, durable raw edges and seams.
Binding
Lockstitch binding and binding seamcover on necklines, armholes and hems.
Garment Resizing
Shortening sleeves, legs and bodies, and downsizing garments by up to two sizes where the construction allows it.

What garment types do you sew?

Do you sew in new brand labels?
Yes. We remove existing labels and sew in new brand, care and size labels as part of our garment labelling and rebranding services. Label positions and stitch type are agreed against your specification before the run starts.
Can you handle urgent or large-volume sewing orders?
